10 Easy And Cheap Vegan Recipes That Don't Require Specialty Ingredients

This is a pain point for so many people. When they consider going vegan, are in transition or currently are vegan, finding a healthy, cheap and easy way to prepare food can be a little tricky sometimes. I’ve been really conscious to not include too many recipes on TMV that require specialty ingredients. In saying that though, where I live, cashews are very accessible but in some parts of Europe for instance it is next to impossible to source them! So I can only go off what I have easy access to where I live.

Sometimes I want to try out other peoples recipes and it’s mainly the ones that are in the US that tend to use vegan butter, pumpkin puree (pre-made) or vegan cheeses. These ingredients seem to be very accessible over there but I wouldn’t use here because 1) the quality isn’t as good or 2) because we typically don’t have it in shops.

The other challenge we hear all the time is that vegan cooking is too expensive. I find this a little strange considering that meat and dairy (mainly cheese) tend to be quite expensive. Fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes aren’t expensive and they should make up 7-80% of your shopping list.

So to help you address the challenges of easy and cheap vegan recipes, I’ve curated some wonderful recipes that other vegan bloggers have kindly shared with me for this particular post. I hope that you enjoy them!
