  1. I tried to KonMari, and it left me frustrated and upset. I have a closet full of clothes (almost all are thrifted or from fair-trade eco-friendly sources) that fit me, and I wear, already curated to my style and lifestyle. Everytime I fold shirts, they wrinkle, even when folded with special methods. With all my clothes on hangers for all seasons, I see exactly what I own and what to shop for and not shop for, and everything is ready to wear without wrinkles. I don’t value spending lots of money to organize remaining items. A forty dollar organizer to hold items worth only ten seems foolish to me. Multiples in the kitchen are a timesaver when cooking/baking from scratch, yet many minimalist experts frown upon multiples. I agree that we have to design the lives we want. I have two small homes, mortgage free, furnished mostly with thrifted furnishings. I have two adult daughters, and respect their values toward material possessions. My shopping now is mostly food, fuel/oil changes, and an occasional item from a thrift store like a storage basket or a classic khaki skirt. My diet is vegan, and workout by running, pushups and situps. Setting goals to declutter, while creating focus for some, may add anxiety to those overwhelmed by things out of their control. Thanks for reading!

    1. Hi Rhea, thank you for sharing your experience. I can see how the KonMari method may be frustrating for you. It sounds like you’ve done a lot of personal development to know what you want and don’t want, so you’re already miles ahead. Always a pleasure to hear and learn from you. Michael
