With so many great podcasts out there that it can be hard to know where to start. That’s why I’ve put together a list of my favourite minimalist podcast episodes and shows.
These podcasts feature interviews, stories and practical advice to help you live with more intentionality. Think of this as a curated playlist of minimalist podcasts.
So whether you’re new to minimalism or have been living intentionally for a while, I hope you find these episodes helpful and inspiring. Happy listening!
1. Tangentially Speaking: Ep. 478 – Kraig Adams (Filmmaker, Hiker, Minimalist)
Best-selling author Christopher Ryan interviews filmmaker, hiker and hardcore minimalist Kraig Adams for one of the more intriguing conversations about intentional living. What I enjoyed about this episode is the contrast in age between Christopher (in his 60s) and Kraig (in his 30s), yet similar mindsets throughout different eras.
They discuss the pros and cons of documenting their travel experiences, moving past the shiny veneer of minimalism, freedom and the impact of technology.
Christopher rants at the beginning of the episode, so if you want to hump string into the interview with Kraig, skip ahead to the 44-minute mark.
2. Hurry Slowly Podcast
The Hurry Slowly podcast is about how you can be more productive, creative, and resilient by slowing down.
In each episode, host Jocelyn K. Glei shares tips and interviews with experts on how to make the most of your time and live a more balanced life.
While the focus of Hurry Slowly is on productivity, minimalism concepts are part of the DNA of every conversation.
One of my favourite episodes is David Sax: Revenge of the Analog.
3. The Rich Roll Podcast: Leo Babauta’s Mission To End Humans’ Struggle
I enjoyed listening to this Rich Roll Podcast episode with Leo Babauta, the creator behind one of my favourite minimalist blogs, Zen Habits.
In this conversation, Leo discusses how to create healthy boundaries, distinguish between greed and ambition, and combat our consumerist programming through meditation, yoga and mindfulness practices. He also shares his vegan lifestyle and why he unschools his children.
As usual, I found Leo’s insights to be valuable and inspiring.
4. The Slow Home Podcast
I’ve been listening to The Slow Home Podcast for a while, and I love it. The hosts, Brooke and Ben McAlary, share personal experiences and interview others who have adopted a minimalist lifestyle and chat about the benefits of slowing down, simplifying and focusing on the essential things.
I like that the podcast is informative but also fun to listen to. It’s helped me reflect on my lifestyle and made me consider ways I can simplify my life and focus on what’s truly important.
I particularly enjoyed the episode Unsubscribe from the rat race with Paul Jarvis.
5. UI Breakfast: Ep. 195 Minimalist Design with Brian Gardner
On the UI Breakfast podcast, designer Brian Gardner discussed minimalist design principles and how they are applied to web and product design.
Gardner’s journey into minimalism began with a realization that he was surrounded by too much stuff. He started the minimalist lifestyle blog No Sidebar to “audit his life and remove the unnecessary things”. And it shows in his designs that Gardner creates gorgeous websites without clutter.
If you’re interested in minimalist design, you’ll love this episode.
6. The Minimalists Podcast
Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus, also known as The Minimalists, discuss different aspects of living a meaningful life with less on their popular podcast.
What I love about their approach is that they don’t just focus on the material possessions you get rid of but on the impact minimalism can have on every area of your life – from your relationships to your creativity.
I also appreciate their no-nonsense approach to things. They’re not afraid to delve deep into difficult topics but also know how to keep things light and entertaining.
If you’re looking for a minimalist podcast that offers a unique take on intentionality, then The Minimalists Podcast is worth checking out.
7. Sustainable Minimalist Podcast: Ep. 55 Eating as Resistance with Rob Greenfield
I recently listened to this episode on The Sustainable Minimalist Podcast about eating as resistance with Rob Greenfield.
Rob is an adventurer, activist, and humanitarian who embarks on extreme adventures to bring attention to sustainability. For example, he vowed to grow and forage 100% of his food for an entire year.
I found Rob’s story fascinating and inspiring. He explained that a bit of difficulty would benefit our bodies and our planet regarding our meals. I love that Rob is using his platform to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable eating.
I also appreciate Rob’s minimalist mindset when it comes to food. He doesn’t want us to join him on his extreme adventure, but he wants us to think about how we can make small changes in our lives that will have a significant impact.
8. The Tim Ferris Show: Ep. 355 Greg McKeown — How to Master Essentialism
In this episode, Tim Ferriss interviews Greg McKeown about essentialism and how it can be applied to various areas of life.
Greg shares stories and advice on living with more intentionality and eliminating unnecessary tasks and commitments.
I particularly enjoyed Greg’s take on decision-making and how to say no to opportunities that don’t align with our goals and values.
I recommend this episode to anyone interested in minimalist living or improving their decision-making skills.
9. Minimal-ish: Minimalism, Intentional Living, Motherhood
I’ve only recently discovered the Minimal-ish podcast, but I can already tell it will be one worth following.
The host, Desiree, has found the perfect balance between solo episodes and bringing on guests. Best of all, she’s relatable. She’s a mom trying to figure out this minimalist thing like many others.
If you’re looking for a minimalist podcast that is both informative and approachable, then I highly recommend giving Minimal-ish a listen.
